چکیده

Mungbean (Vigna radiata) is an important short-season legume widely cultivated in Asia, particularly India. It highly susceptible to bruchids and developing bruchid resistance goal mungbean breeding programs. In the present study, 52 genotypes were evaluated for based on “no-choice test” identified two resistant (V2802BG V2709) with no adult emergence seed damage. Further, these crossed six high-yielding cultivars (CO 5, CO 6, 7, 8, VBN 2, 3), 12 independent F1 populations generated. Of these, one population derived from 6 × V2802BG was selected (based good combining ability of parents) forwarded later generations trace bruchid-resistant lines. A total 159 F2:3 families screened resistance, results showed that seven resistant, whereas remainder susceptible. those F4 F5 generations. As a result, five lines (BSR-GG-1-49-3-1, BSR-GG-1-56-2-2, BSR-GG-1-160-5-3, BSR-GG-1-170-2-4, BSR-GG-1-198-1-4) agronomic performances identified. The newly developed could be tested multi-location trials then utilized as potential source genetic material improving

GENETIC DIVESITY AND MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF MUNGBEAN GENOTYPES (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek)

The present investigation was undertaken to examine the genetic divergence in 50 mungbean germplasm lines for 13 characters using Mahalanobis D statistics. The genotypes grouped into eight clusters. Cluster VII had maximum intra-cluster distance while inter-cluster distance was highest between clusters V and VII. Cluster means indicated that none of the clusters was superior for all the charact...

Mechanism of Resistance in Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek var. radiata] to bruchids, Callosobruchus spp. (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)

Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek var. radiata] is an important pulse crop in Asia, and is consumed as dry seeds and as bean sprouts. It is an excellent source of digestible protein. Bruchids [Callosobruchus chinensis (L.) and Callosobruchus maculatus (F.)] are the important pests of mungbean and cause damage in the field and in storage. Bruchid infestation reduces the nutritional and mar...

Seed Yield of Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) in relation to Growth and Developmental Aspects

Growth parameters such as leaf area (LA), total dry mass (TDM) production, crop growth rate (CGR), relative growth rate (RGR), and net assimilation rate (NAR) were compared in six varieties of mungbean under subtropical condition (24°8' N 90°0' E) to identify limiting growth characters for the efficient application of physiology breeding for higher yields. Results revealed that a relatively sma...

Cloning and Molecular Characterization of MIPS and Phytase from Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek)

Mungbean has claimed its rich source of protein and premium quality of starch; however the disadvantage of antinutritional factor phytic acid in monogastric animals is needed to be decreased. Understanding both upand down-stream of phytic acid biosynthetic pathway will be a great benefit for controlling the appropriate level phytic acid in legumes. Cloning of D-myo-inositol 3-phosphate synthase...
